PayXpert - User documentation

Settings (PayXpress)

There are a few options available in the settings menu of PayXpress to help the advanced user. These include, for example, setting an Admin PIN, and selecting another Originator (or a default one) to perform transactions with, given that your POS is multi-beneficiary.

Setting an Admin PIN

You can protect your PayXpress settings with an Admin PIN. Then, any time a user tries to access the Settings menu, they will need to enter the correct PIN. This feature is also very easy to turn on and off.

Protecting the Settings menu with a PIN

To set an Admin PIN:

  1. Go to the Settings menu:

  2. Tap Security settings:

  3. Tap PIN for admin access:

  4. Set a PIN. It must be 6 digits. You will need to enter it twice.

  5. Your Admin PIN is set. Tap OK:

In order to access the Settings menu, you (or any other user) will need to provide this PIN.

The PIN can be changed at any time. Also, this feature can be turned off if desired. To do this:

  1. Tap Settings:

  2. Enter your Admin PIN.

  3. Tap PIN for admin access:

  4. At this point, you can change your PIN or delete it. If you delete it, it will no longer be necessary for a user to enter a PIN when trying to access the Settings menu:

  5. If you have deleted your PIN, just tap OK. If you want to change it, you will have to enter it twice.

Setting a PIN for CB features

For sensitive transactions like refunds, it is a good idea to protect yourself via a PIN. This will prevent fraudulent refund transactions, where someone using the POS could credit the wrong account, fraudulently.

This is not the Admin PIN (which only protects your settings) but a different PIN called “PIN for CB features”. This PIN is requested at the end of the refund workflow, right before we credit the cardholder:

To set a PIN for refunds:

  1. Go to the Settings menu:

  2. Tap Security settings:

  3. Tap PIN for CB features:

  4. Set a PIN. It must be 6 digits. You will need to enter it twice.

  5. Your PIN for refunds is set. Tap OK:

In order to perform a refund, you (or any other user) will need to provide this PIN.

The PIN can be changed at any time. Also, this feature can be turned off if desired. To do this:

  1. Tap Settings:

  2. Tap PIN for CB features:

  3. At this point, you can change your PIN or delete it. If you delete it, it will no longer be necessary for a user to enter a PIN when trying to perform a refund:

  4. If you have deleted your PIN, just tap OK. If you want to change it, you will have to enter it twice.

Selecting another Originator

If you work with different accounts on the same POS, you can switch back and forth between the desired account, for every new payment. On the other hand, you could select a default Originator, which is a good idea if you are going to be using the POS device in the same location for some time.

To access your Originator settings:

  1. Go to the Settings menu:

  2. Tap Originator settings:

  3. Tap Default originator:

  4. Now you can either:

    1. Choose a default Originator: this Originator will be used by default from now on until you change your settings again.

    2. Select None: PayXpress will ask you, every time you inititiate a transaction, which Originator you want to use.

Please note that if you only have one account configured for your POS device, then these instructions do not apply.
